Song of the Day
Today’s Song of the Day is by the immortal Fats Waller – Your Feets Too Big.
Two versions of the song are featured below – the first is the original 1939 recording, set to a cartoon. And the second, a live version from 1941. Waller was both an accomplished jazz pianist, who played stride style, and a comedic performer of immense girth. Here, he is performing a light song written by Fred Fisher and Ada Benson that closes with Waller’s immortal catch phrase – One Never Knows, Do One. Waller died very young of pneumonia on a cross-country train trip at 39.
And here is another version, performed live by Fats Waller in 1941.
