Song of the Day
Today’s Song of the Day is Aimee Mann – Save Me. From the soundtrack of 1999’s Magnolia, it is accompanied here by a great video, shot by the director of the film after the closing of various shoots for the movie. The video features the movie’s cast, in the movie’s sets, with the addition of Mann singing Save Me. Quite cool.
It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song (it would have won if I voted), I would call it adult alternative pop, its a great song featuring a rubbery bass that would fit right in on a Beatle’s record.
Magnolia’s soundtrack features a number of Mann songs, including her cover of One, and Wise Up, both worthy of repeated listens.
