Song of the Day
Today’s Song of the Day is killer freakbeat from Japan, The Golden Cups’ This Bad Girl from 1968. The band sang this one (and some others) in English. Kenneth Ito sang the lead, and he was half American and half Japanese. Great vocal, insistent bass, good guitar and a way cool video. If you like this band, they also did a rave up version of Hey Joe, again with killer bass from Masayoshi “Louise Louis” Kabe. It can be found on their only album The Golden Cups Album. The band took their name from a Japanese club where they played.
