Song of the Day

Today’s Song of the Day features a trio of tunes from Howard Tate.  The first two, Ain’t Nobody Home and Get It While You Can, are from his 1966 album Get It While You Can.  The third, 8 Days On The Road, is from 1972’s Howard Tate.

Soul, sounding a lot like Otis Redding. Howard Tate shows just how hard the music business is.  His first album in particular, where he teamed with writer/producer Jerry Ragovoy (he wrote Time Is On My Side by the Rolling Stones), is chock full of great soul that should have launched a long and successful career.  Ain’t Nobody Home was a minor Rnb hit, but the album went nowhere, as did two subsequent attempts.

But its here for you now.  If you like soul, these are damn fine records, and there is more where that came from.
