Permanent Records – Brooklyn NY
Closed here and there.
Nope, not here anymore.
And closed here too in Northport Long Island, where the store was located for 3 and 1/2 years from 2003 to 2007.
And (apparently) closed here, upstairs, at 159 20th Street, No. 1B, South Slope, Brooklyn NY 11232 (inside Brooklyn Works), as well.
Here’s a story in Greenpointers from August 14, 2014 Say It Ain’t So! Permanent Records Is Closing … reporting on the closing of Permanent’s 181 Franklin Street store front in Greenpoint.
According to store owner Marjorie Eisenberg, the closing of the store’s Franklin Street location was due to escalating rents, a sad but familiar refrain for independent record stores.
And here’s an article in the Brooklyn Vegan Permanent Records Opened In South Slope Location Today from October 2014 announcing the opening of the South Slope store.
But a check today led to a telephone number that no longer took calls and a Yelp listing that reported the store closed.
