This was the first of what ultimately became an over 150 store chain, operated largely in southeastern United States. The chain eventually operated superstores under the name Tracks and was purchased by Blockbuster, which renamed its stores Blockbuster Music. You can read about the store’s storried history on its Record Bar wikipedia page. To think, it all started as an 800 sq. ft. store in Durham.
