Song of the Day
Today’s Song of the Day is Paul McCartney – Dear Boy. From Ram in 1971, this is piano pop that sounds almost like choral music, with soaring harmonies, and a coda that sounds like classical music. I remember when Ram came out how disappointed I was. I wanted another Beatles’ album, and this was not what I was looking for. Over the years, however, as I gave it a fresh listen, without my expectations, I came to realize just how good it was. This is one of my favorite cuts. I’ll leave to others to interpret the lyrics, and their meaning – praise for Linda or an attack on John. You be the judge. But to do so you’ll have to listen for yourself.
