Song of the Day
Today’s song of the day is one of the greatest one-hit wonders of all time – Norman Greenbaum – Spirit In The Sky From 1969, the song features heavy fuzzed out guitar over a gospel ode to God. According to Wikipedia, the lead on the original was not actually played by Greenbaum, but instead by Russell Dashiell, who came up with the interesting fade in/out sound by switching between his guitar’s pickups, with one on and one off. Recently feature in the movie The End. There is also a cool YouTube video that will teach you how to play the guitar parts, if you’re so inclined.
