Today’s Song of the Day is by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs – Lil’ Red Riding Hood. Led by Domingo “Sam the Sham” Samudio, the song rose to No. 2 in August 1966. The group reputedly took its name from a joke about Domingo’s singing ability – ie Sam the Sham. But to sing this song, all you need to know is how to howl. You know how to howl, don’t you?
For fun, here too is Foul Owl On The Prowl by Boomer and Travis. Apparently, for the great movie In the Heat of the Night they wanted to license Sam the Sham’s song, but couldn’t. Failing that, they substituted Foul Owl On the Prowl. You decide, which is better?
