Song of the Day
Today’s Song of the Day is a moody garage ballad from the Skeptics – East Side Tenement House. An Oklahoma garage band, this song was written by Wayne Carson (credited on the record as Wayne Carson Thompson) who wrote the Letter for the Box Tops, had a hand in You Were Always On My Mind (Willie Nelson and others) and a number of other notable songs. This record features Jerry Waugh on the lead vocals, some tasty chiming guitar, and tells the tale of a young lad looking to leave his humble home and make his way in the world to help mom and dad. It was originally released in 1967 on the Scratch record label (I kid you not).
