House of Records Eugene Oregon
Open – 258 E. 13th Ave., Eugene Oregon 97401 – open – now with a 4.7 star rating in Yelp reviews on a 1-5 scale (see below).
Once I saw a picture of it on the Internet, I knew I had to go. A blue house filled with records. My sister had a wedding (her oldest son) and so we made a slight detour to this Eugene institution, in business since 1971.
Seems Oregon is the land of record stores. Dig the cool record dividers. With over 50,000 lps, the store has a bit of everything, both new and used. Got a nice copy of the original Belle & Sebastian The Life Pursuit, and a reissue of Of Montreal The Gay Parade (quite a good record).

What the Press is Saying
The University of Oregon’s Daily Emerald published this article Still Spinning: House of Records Celebrates 45 Years of Music in November 2016 which tells how 3 University of Oregon students founded the store in 1971, and how another – Greg Sutherland – came to manage it. The store has been in this location since 1973.
And here’s a You Tube video, titled House of Records’ Greg Sutherland on why vinyl came back from 2015 interviewing Mr. Sutherland on the store and its history, with more pictures of what the store has to offer.
In-Stores
Finally, here’s a link to an in-store performance shot in 2018. Very grunge. Can anyone identify the band?
